Word on the piste in Gressoney (Monterosa Ski) today, Monday 20 March, is spring skiing at its best! Sunshine, sunshine and some more sunshine! I would go as far to say this was an epic day of skiing, having covered about 30 miles according to our trusted ski tracks app.
Yes the slopes are best enjoyed up high, where conditions remained firmer for much longer. But they weren't too icy first thing, despite the freeze thaw that you expect this time of year. You could really get some speed up in the morning and the slopes were quiet, but shhhh, don't let too many people into that little secret.
Today we finished skiing today at 4.30pm. The conditions were quite heavy going towards the end of the day, but that aside it was magic, sat in our t-shirts enjoying lunch and bombardinos aplenty.
Recommended place for lunch: Tana del Lupo... Now it gets very mixed reviews on trip advisor for price and crazy owner, but we found him friendly, helpful and the food was fantastic. We've been twice before and it's a beautiful location.
Top Runs for today: Black G6, Red B1, Red C14, Red C6.
Red C6 off the Colle Sarezza (the goat run) when I have been before has been an icy, mogul infested narrow passage of necessary evil, but today it was just perfect!
More of the same forecast for tomorrow and then comes the snow, and lots of it is forecast, so from bluebird days to powder!!! Can't wait.
