IntroductionSkiingSnowboardingApres Ski
Copper has great skiing for all ability levels and has invested heavily in snowmaking and new lifts in recent seasons, including new high speed quad and six seater chairs and doubled snow making capacity. Intrawest also intend to move some other existing lift infrastructure around a little to enhance the overall lift system's effectiveness. Complete beginners tend to get started at Union Creek where there are long easy runs like Roundabout and Soliloquy. Beginners visiting mid-week and low-season can practise themselves for free by making use of Copper's innovative 'K&L Program' giving them free access to chairs K & L. E pert skiers can use the pass if they want to be 'beginners' in another snow sport including 'boarding or snow-blading. Intermediates have a great variety of trails to enjoy whilst experts have short sharp steeps and some mean mogul trails as well as powder filled basins in Spalding, Hallelujah and Union bowls. Copper Bowl contains over 700 acres of excellent back country terrain served by two double chairs installed and opened for the '97 - '98 season. The resort has opened the Snow Adventure Center to showcase the plethora of new fun snow sports that keep appearing in the wake of snowboarding's big impact on the ski industry. It gives visitors the option to try out the latest carving skis, snow boards or other equipment like telemark skis and Salomon's Snowblades. Copper has its own cross-country centre and also organises special rentals and tuition for snow sports like telemark. Weekend back country tours are organised throughout the season over to Janet's Cabin. Built as recently as 1990, the cabin gives splendid isolation for whatever you'd like to do from reading a book in front of the fire, to snow shoeing, or checking out the bowls above the cabin near Searle Pass and Sugarloaf Mountain, which were used by the US Army's 10 Mountain division ski troops for winter training during the second world war.
