Neukirchen has 55km (35 miles) of well groomed blue and red slopes plus a single black. Trail options include an incredible 14km (nine mile) winding blue down to the neighbouring village of Bramberg (you need to take a bus back - free of charge) or the plunging five kilometre (three mile), 1300 vertical metre descent from the top of the lifts back down to the resort centre. Beginners have nursery slopes by the village and at the top of the gondola when snow is short at village level. With most of the area dominated by easy blue runs it's a great choice for those looking to be progressing around the mountain by the end of their first week, or indeed second week skiers who want something challenging but not too intimidating. Experts have limited options on the piste but extensive off piste powder fields to enjoy in the company of a guide. Alternatively buy a ticket for the nearby Zillertal Arena, accessed via Wald or Krimml, a short free ski bus ride away and opening up 160km (100 miles) of lift linked skiing. The full Zillertal Superski ticket takes in more ski areas in the Ziller Valley including the Tux glacier and Mayrhofen's big ski area.
