At Pila, skiing through woods of birch and larch in total safety and liberty is a unique experience open to everyone. Beginners and children have easy ski runs such as Baby Pila , Baby Gorraz and Grimod. The more advanced progress on to steeper slopes such as Leissé, Nouva which usually have excellent snow where you can turn and model curves endlessly, especially good news for carving enthusiasts in search of thrills and excitement. A run not to be missed is the Du Bois from the Chamolé chair lift. It's a unique experience skiing through aromatic birch woods and extraordinary snow first thing in the morning. For experts a triple chair takes you to the summit of the fast straight Couis 2 at 2,600m, with views out over the whole mountain area. Experience the rush of adrenaline and excitement on the snow of the Bellevue black run. Couis 1 is another tough run, although a little easier, with more breathtaking panoramas over the nearby Cogne valley and the entire Monte Rosa range. Pila has modern comfortable ski lifts that cut queuing times and provide fast ascents. The slopes are well maintained with 250 cannons for snowmaking guaranteeing that at least 53% of slopes are covered. There is something here for everyone from beginners to experts and from children to ski surfing and carving enthusiasts. Pila is on the The Aosta Valley pass which covers 800km (500 miles) of terrain served by nearly 200 lifts in over a dozen ski areas, including Cervinia, linked to Zermatt and other famous resorts in the area such as Pila, La Thuile and Courmayeur (a 30 minute bus ride away) which is linked to Chamonix. There's no ski bus so your own transport is most useful to make the most of the pass. There are many different versions of the Aosta Valley Pass. The latest incarnation gives the pass three types - Blue - with small - medium Italian resorts only - and Red including the major Italian resorts in the area and La Rosiere in France and finally Red + Zermatt which is self explanatory.
